Why "State of the World" for Issue One?
Editor in Chief
We chose "State of the World" as our inaugural theme because honest assessment must precede meaningful action. Before we can bridge divides, we must understand them. Before we can tell untold stories, we must map the landscape of what remains unsaid. This issue is our attempt to take stock not with despair, but with realism tempered by hope. We examine where we are across multiple dimensions: philosophical, social, cultural, artistic, political, environmental, economic, and technological. We look at how we arrived at this moment and consider the paths forward.
These aren't comprehensive surveys; there is no single issue that could achieve that. Instead, think of this as a series of dispatches from various frontlines of human experience in late 2025. Some stories will challenge you. Others might frustrate you. A few, we hope, will inspire you.
